This year we based our walk and dance on the Roseland Peninsula at Portscatho.
Ann Harris organised and led the circular walk, starting from the car park at the top of Portscatho opposite Gerrans Primary School. We took the steep path down into Portscatho and then turned right along the coast path.
It was a beautiful clear day although a little chilly when we first started off. The views all along this stretch of coastline are wonderful – crystal clear water, and the hedgerows still with some late summer colour. We followed the well marked path and eventually came to Towan Beach a wonderful stretch of sand in a sheltered bay.
By now the sun was high in the sky and several people were enjoying a dip in the sea. We stopped for a photo on the beach and then headed inland to the Thirstea Cafe at Porth (NT) for a quick drink stop. Our walk then turned inland and we followed a well defined cart track through farmland back to Portscatho. The group enjoyed a leisurely lunch in the very well equipped and comfortable Gerrans Parish Hall before putting on our dancing shoes to finish the afternoon dancing to a programme of well known dance favorites. Thank you very much to all who joined us for the day.
